Splinter Boardworks

handcrafted in Port Townsend, WA

Our basic philosophy…Hand-craft the most durable and high-performance SUPs using the most ecologically sensitive materials and techniques we can.

What does this mean?

First and foremost, we are building a SUP that ages more like a fine watercraft than a limited-lifespan surfboard - a SUP that, with proper care and maintenance, will last decades. While there are always going to be innovations and improvements to be made, we believe we’ve hit upon designs that will stand as models of performance and efficiency (paddle faster = paddle further more easily) for a long time to come, making a Splinter SUP more of a worthy investment than a consumable commodity.

It means we are committed, as earth-dwellers, to constantly assess our supply stream and methods, looking for ways to meet our primary goal while using less petroleum products, more recycled and recyclable content, and creating less waste in the process.

Ambassador - 16’ x 25.5”

The Ambassador is the cutting edge of touring and expedition SUP technology. Available in carbon fiber, hemp, basalt, and flax (linen).

A nimble, hollow-body composite board with internal storage, recessed deck, and just the right amount of rocker. The formula is: speed to cover miles efficiently + stability for ocean conditions + rock-hard durability. This is a lifer. We are absurdly amped to get this absolute machine out there - the culmination of years and 1000s of miles of research. Deliveries for 2023 available.

Mullet - 12’6 x 28”

Distance-covering business in the front, legit surfing-approved rounded pintail (aka party) in the back.

Got some distance to cover to get to that secret surf spot up the coast? The Mullet devours miles with its touring bow and clean release, then float the rounded pin tail into the pocket of your favorite break. The Mullet really crushes just about anything - surf session, leisurely bay-cruise, all-day touring, down-winding. Kids love it too.
